Tips for building a video studio at
home:
- Paint a wall blue or green for chroma keying. You can buy chroma
key paint at speciality stores, but a simple blue of green paint
is just as good.
- If you can paint the wall, buy a green screen.
- Use energy efficient bulbs in your light fixtures to keep the
cost down and it is also a safety tip. These bulbs don't generate
too much heat.
- Install a curtain rod above your green screen. You can use this
to create different drapery backgrounds or you can attach lighting
to it.
- If you are using a utility light, turn it off when you are not
filming. It uses a lot of electricity and it get very hot. Don't
let children close to these lights.
- If you don't have a soft box to diffuse light, you can use a
white pillow case of shirt to cover your main lights. Remember
to turn the lights off when you are not filming.
- Invest in a good tri-pod.
- Most of the photo cameras you can buy today are able to record
HD video.
- I recommend PowerDirector 9 to use as a video editor program.
It is under $100, and you can download free effects from the users'
forums.
