If you have never created a video before, you might be intimidated
and think that there is too much new information to learn. Let
me show you how easy it is to create a slide show of your pictures.
The main screen is divided into three working areas.
The project library, the project preview and the time lines.
To start, you have to import your media files into the program.
Click File, then, Import Media, then go to the folder location
on your computer and click on the pictures you want to use in
the slideshow. You can click multiple files by holding the control
key down.
If you want the finish video to be in High Definition, chose
the 16:9 ratio.
To add the files to the project, you can simply click on the
picture in the Media Library, and drag it to the time line. You
can adjust the duration of each picture by right clicking on the
picture in the time line and click “Set Duration”.
Now we will create a slideshow. We have to highlight the pictures
we want in our slideshow. I will highlight all of the pictures
in the timeline.
Click on the Slideshow button. A window will open, where you
can chose the style you like. Take a few minutes to see what the
different options are. Once you have found the one you want to
use, you can add the music file to play in the background of the
video.
The program will create your video file now. You will not be
able to see the separate picture files anymore.
You can preview your new video file in the preview area. Before
you are ready to produce the final video file, you can add a title
and text to the video. I will show you how to add a title with
animation.
Click on the Title room tab, and drag the default title to the
timeline, where you want the title to appear. You can double click
on the title item in the timeline or highlight it, and click modify.
Now you can move the title where you want it to be. You can also
change the style, color, add or remove shadow, and outline. Once
you are happy with the look, you can add animation. You can animate
the way the title will appear in the screen and how it will leave
the screen.
You can add as many animated titles as you want, but you can
add the title without animation.
Now we are ready with editing, we can produce or render the video.
You can render your video into many different formats. We are
talking about online videos in this tutorial, and in PowerDirector
9, you can create your video file and upload it to YouTube with
one click. You need to have a YouTube account for this option.
If you don’t have one yet, you can go to www.youtube.com
and create a free profile.
Enter your username and password into the program.
Chose the quality you want your video to be. I will chose HD
quality. The better the quality of the video, the longer it will
take to produce it and bigger the file will be.
Chose where you want the finished video to be stored on your
computer. I recommend to have an external hard drive to store
all of your video files. Create a folder for each project, where
you have all of the supporting files stored.
Now you can click start. The program will now create the video
file and upload it to your YouTube account.
